The Math Olympiad program, sponsored by the PTA, is open to 4th and 5th graders, as well as 3rd graders (details below). Led by dedicated parent volunteers, it runs from mid-September to March. Geared toward students who thrive on advanced Math concepts, it's voluntary and demands a strong commitment and enthusiasm for learning. The program combines online, parent-led instruction with interactive elements, alongside some in-person sessions and tests. While the Math Olympiad contests are typically in person, they may shift online as needed. Parent involvement is crucial, especially with the online format. Please discuss participation with your child before enrolling.
For those new to Math Olympiad, here's what to expect:
- Stimulate enthusiasm and love for Mathematics
- Introduce key Mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies
- Develop flexibility and intuition in problem-solving
- Foster creativity and ingenuity in Mathematics
- Provide satisfaction and thrill in meeting challenges
Note for parents of third-graders: while the program is open to third-graders, not all may be ready. You know your child best, so use your judgement before registering and also be ready to dedicate a few hours each week to help your child learn the material.
