Argonaut Art Docent Program

Argonaut Art Docent Program is a parent volunteer run visual art program which provides art lessons to all TK-5th grade students at Argonaut Elementary School.  Lessons are in various media including drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, mixed -media, ceramics and sculpture.  Each lesson focuses on one or more concepts of the elements of art and/or the principles of design. Lessons are often inspired by a master artist or a cultural or historical context.

Through the opportunity of exploration and experimenting with a wide variety of two- and three-dimensional materials, students are encouraged to create and imagine.  The program enhances their observation skills, problem solving skills, and appreciation of the works of others as well as their own.  Students also learn basic visual art vocabulary, appreciation of fine arts, and relate their own experiences to different works that are introduced during the lessons.

Artwork from every student at Argonaut Elementary School will be displayed in the Children’s Area during the month of April.
